The Search History feature in the Prior Art Database (PAD) logs your initial searches with timestamps and displays them in chronological order. This guide explains how to use the Search History feature, including accessing, viewing, re-running, and deleting past searches.
For logged-in accounts, both concept and keyword searches are maintained, storing up to 100 queries for a maximum of 30 days. You can delete your search history at any time for privacy.
Open Search History
You can access Search History in the following ways:
- Account Menu: Click the person icon,
, in the upper-right corner and select Search History. - Sidebar: Select Search History from the sidebar menu.
- Recent Searches: Access Full Search History from the Home Page under Recent Searches.
Take Action in Search History
In Search History, you can easily identify and re-run searches you’ve created or updated over time in InnovationQ (PAD). A timestamped entry is created whenever you initially run a search, change the main concept or Boolean syntax, apply a filter, or make other modifications. Search History saves your search configurations, not the results.
1 To view details about a search, click on a row or select Expand All. For a search summary, click the row again or select Collapse All.
2 Searches are organized by date and timestamp.
3 Search details include the timestamp, type of search (concept or keyword), and applied filters.
4 To re-run a search, click Run Search from either the expanded view or the three-dot vertical menu.

Re-running a search neither logs a new entry nor updates the timestamp of existing searches.
More Actions:
- To view searches, use the scroll bar to incrementally load more entries.
- To delete all searches, select one or more entries and click Delete Selected from the bottom right-side menu.

- To search for keywords, use the Find Tool. The Find tool highlights the searches by matching the keywords from your main concept and other elements of the search to the characters you type.
Example
For example, you can use Search History to re-run a search effective at the current time. The search results are reflective of the content source at the time of running the search.
