This article provides a brief overview of the sidebar functionality in InnovationQ™. The navigational elements described in this article provide quick access to many useful features. Some features require an IP.com login and an upgrade to InnovationQ+™.

Open the Sidebar
To open the sidebar, click the hamburger icon. This menu symbol is also referred to as the three-line icon or triple-bar icon.
The Sidebar
To access the sidebar, click on the three-bar icon located in the upper-left corner of the screen. The sidebar offers a range of useful features for searching and publishing to the IP.com Prior Art Database (PAD), in addition to links to InnovationQ+™ for exploring additional Non-Patent Literature (NPL) and patents.
The option to lock the sidebar is available if your browser window is wide enough. Click the pin icon to lock and unlock. If your browser window width is too narrow to lock into place, you will get a warning message informing you that the sidebar cannot be pinned.
Note: On smaller screens, you may need to close the sidebar after clicking to take an action.
InnovationQ™ Features
- New Search
- New Search takes you to the InnovationQ™ (PAD) home page where you can enter a new concept or keyword search. The workspace you are currently working in will be dismissed and a new workspace opens.
- Browse Archive
- Browse Archive allows you to search previous publications by year and month.
- Publish Prior Art
- Publish Prior Art opens a page where you can publish your disclosure using IP.com’s Defensive Publishing platform.
- Search History
- Search History keeps track of and records your initial search, as well as any modification made to the search in InnovationQ™ (PAD).
InnovationQ+™ Features
The following features require a subscription to InnovationQ+™:
- Company Lookup
- Use Company Lookup to find a company’s patents while searching in InnovationQ+™. The recommended option is enhanced with Corporate Tree from S&P Global Market Intelligence providing worldwide financial and ownership information for public and private organizations including corporations, institutions, and government departments. Organizations from the S&P data are linked to patents using Current Assignee values. Once linked, patents are then associated with an Ultimate Parent (that is, their topmost owner). Company Lookup searches the names of organizations linked to patents. The view of an Ultimate Parent includes an Overview, Financials, Description, and Children. Options are available to search for companies without using the Corporate Tree.
- Custom Charts
- Custom Charts offers valuable insights into key documents within your technology area. This workspace enables you to customize views of a set of patent documents, allowing for a rapid understanding of the data. A variety of tools are available to view, filter, and sort the data. Additionally, you can export the data to Excel and create portfolios of active, selected, or displayed charted documents.
- Create New Plus / Manage Items
- Create New and Manage Items provide access to various areas including Projects, Portfolios, Saved Searches, and Term Lists where you can create and administer these items while searching in InnovationQ+™ . You can create a portfolio by organization while working in Discover, HD-Analyze, or Custom Charts. There are many other scenarios to uncover by adding and managing items without interfering with your work.
- Alerts
- Alerts facility provides a way for you to manage and monitor the activity of your existing alerts while searching in InnovationQ+™ .
- IP Analytics
- IP Analytics Reports use machine learning and statistical analysis to evaluate the strength of either a patent or an idea while searching in InnovationQ+™ . They are ideal for business leaders to help discover new insights about patents, technology, competitors, the marketplace and more.
- Delivery Center
- The Delivery Center provides access to your Excel/CSV files, Document Files, and other exports created from your results while searching in InnovationQ+™ . Exports in the Delivery Center are maintained for 90 days and then they are removed. Prior to the expiration date, you can download, email, and with the exception of zip file, attach your export to a project. For exports that are attached to a project, the expiration date is removed, and you can open the Project Viewer pop-up window by clicking on the project link.
